Our Instructors
Our Instructors have spent many
years devoted to training in the art of Kenpo and other martial arts and have attained a certain level of expertise
to qualify them as teachers and also mentors.
Through extensive testing, certification and tournament level competition, our staff has attained mastery in this
martial art and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students. Here are a few of The Professional
Self Defense of Durango Kenpo Karate Studio's instructors and other staff members, starting with Tim Smith:
Tim Smith (Director/
Owner -Yodan- 4th Degree Black Belt)
Mr.Smith started his Kenpo training at the Professional Self Defense Institute in Durango, Colorado in 1993 under
Master Steve Shover. Having receieved His 1st Degree Black Belt in the Spring of 1996, Sifu Smith started his teaching
career soon after.His most recent promotion was to 4th Degree Black Belt in the Tracy's Kenpo System.
Sifu Smith is a Founding member and holds a postion on the Board for the United Fist Law Association.

Tim Smith

Nick Pearson (Instructor- 1st. Degree Black Belt)
Mr. Pearson started with PSDD in the year 2003 and began teaching for PSDD in 2006.
When he isn't teaching at the studio, Nick is a full time police officer with Fort Lewis College.
Nick was recently promoted to 1st Degree Black Belt on June 11, 2007.

Ron Johnson (Instructor- 1st.Degree Black Belt)
Mr. Johnson started his training at The Professional Self Defense Institute in the winter of 1999 under Grand Master
Steve Shover.
He began his teaching career in 2005 under Sifu Tim Smith at the Professional Self Defense of Durango Kenpo Karate
Studio. Mr. Johnson recieved his 1st Degree Black Belt in October, 2007. |
